Liesa Kyer’s career began in 1997, as a surgical nurse at a small community hospital in Charleston, WV. She became the General Surgical and Minimally Invasive Team Leader for the surgical services department in 2001. She obtained her BSN degree through an online accredited school and was promoted to become the Nurse Educator for the surgical services area. Liesa continued to work on her education in the evenings while working full time. In 2007, she had obtained a Registered Nurse First Assistant degree from Northern New Mexico Community College. Liesa had three children at home and continued to work full time as she progressed towards a Masters in Healthcare Administration. She began to perform financial management activities for a small single physician practice in the city of South Charleston in 2008.
In 2009, she began teaching in higher education in the Nursing program at Kanawha Valley Community and Technical College. Liesa went back to school once more to obtain a Master’s in Science in Nursing for the position that she held as Nursing Instructor. Liesa taught in the fundamentals courses from 2009- 2015. In 2015, she took the position of the Program Coordinator for the Healthcare Management Program in the Business Division of the BridgeValley. She utilized her MHA degree, experience in hospital administration, and small physician office administration to create the courses for the Healthcare Management program. She worked as a Chair for the business Division for two years and worked on the ACBSP Accreditation with the department.
