How to Apply for Financial Aid

Every year students must complete a new Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit it to the United States Department of Education.  The FAFSA is an application for the following federal aid programs:

  • Pell
  • SEOG (Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant)
  • State Grants
  • Federal Work Study
  • Subsidized Student Loan
  • Unsubsidized Student Loan
  • Parent Loan

FAFSA Filing

We ask that you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid as soon after October 1, as possible. We suggest you file electronically at, www.fafsa.gov.  The student and one parent (for dependent students) will need to create an FSA ID to fully complete their FAFSA as well as access other U.S. Department of Education websites.

The recommended completion date for the FAFSA is March 1st. Tax information is needed to complete the FAFSA; however, the FAFSA uses prior-prior year taxes and not the current year's taxes.

You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) at the email address you provided on your FAFSA application. Be sure to review your SAR for errors and make corrections as needed.

For Spring 2019 and Summer 2019 classes, please complete your 2018-19 FAFSA using our 040386 school code.

For Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 classes, please complete your 2019-20 FAFSA using our 040386 school code.

Awards

All financial aid and admission requirements must be received and processed prior to awarding of financial aid funds.  Students will be notified by email once their awarding process is complete.  The college assigned email address will be the primary destination for all financial aid email correspondence.

The deadline to accept and complete the requirements for student loan processing is October 25th for the fall term and March 25th for the spring term.

All awards are initially made for full time enrollment for both fall and spring. Pell award amounts shown are full time enrollment amounts. If you enroll 9-11 hours, your Pell will be 75% of the full time amount and if you enroll 6-8 hours your Pell will be 50% of the full time amount.

All awards are initially offered for fall and spring only. Summer awards will be made once you enroll for the summer term. If your annual eligibility has been extinguished prior to the summer semester, we will contact you via email.

We reserve the right to modify your awards at any time due to changes in your financial eligibility as a result of incorrect information you supplied on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or due to changes in your enrollment, residency, degree program, or in the availability of our funds.

To view billing amount information on your MyBridge account

When you enter the secure area:

  • Click on the Student Information Link
  • Click on the Student Account Link
  • Select Account Summary by Term from the current menu
    • The top section will be the most recent billing information. 
    • You will see all your tuition and fees along with any financial aid or personal payments that have been made to your account.
    • At the bottom of this each section, it will show that semesters current amount due if any.

Please note:  financial aid will not show on this screen as paid until the second week of classes, so you may need to compare your financial aid awards information to the billing information to see if there will be a balance due after financial aid pays.
