Advising and Retention

Advising and Retention

The primary purpose of Freshman Advising at BridgeValley Community and Technical College is to assist incoming students in the development and implementation of their educational plans. To this end, our advisors subscribe to the philosophies of developmental and appreciative advising in support of a robust and effective faculty & professional advising cohort.

Incoming students are assigned an Advising and Retention Specialist according to last name. After the initial semester, students will be assigned a faculty advisor who will assist with academic advising for all future semesters.
