BridgeValley Community and Technical College Awards Students With Financial Aid Relief

(South Charleston, WV) Under the federal CARES Act, BridgeValley Community and Technical College (BVCTC) beginning in early 2020 received three rounds of Emergency Financial Aid grants totaling more than $3.4 million to support their students through the COVID-19 pandemic.
The college used no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004 (a) (1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid grants to its students. As of December 2021, $3,433,401 had been distributed.
“A focus at BridgeValley is to best utilize CARES funds to support our students,” said Dr. Casey Sacks, BVCTC president. “I am so proud of the aid we have been able to provide to our students through the CARES initiatives.”
More than 2,700 students received the financial aid relief funds. BridgeValley’s administration and financial aid office based the funding on a formula utilizing credit hours attempted and expected family contributions to determine the grant amounts awarded to students.
