BridgeValley Community & Technical College Welcomes Cody Tomblin as the New Director of Strategic Initiatives

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W. Va.  – BridgeValley Community & Technical College (BVCTC) is pleased to announce Cody Tomblin as the new Director of Strategic Initiatives. With a strong background in grant development, management, and educational program alignment, Cody brings a wealth of experience to this pivotal role, positioning him to drive the college’s strategic growth.

Cody’s previous role as Director of ASCEND and Support Programs at BVCTC has had a transformative impact on the institution. Under his leadership, more than $5 million in grants were secured, significantly enhancing student persistence and completion rates. His efforts in advancing high-impact educational strategies have strengthened pathways for students, especially within ASCEND, one of the college's key support programs.

In addition to his prior achievements at BVCTC, Cody serves on the Retention and Completion Committee and is actively involved with the Kanawha County FAME Chapter. These roles underscore his dedication to bridging the gap between education and industry by ensuring that students have access to programs that meet workforce demands.                                                                                                                                                                                               

Cody’s expertise extends beyond institutional boundaries. He has represented BVCTC at prominent events, including U.S. Department of Labor webinars and the Fall 2023 WVASPA conference, where he has tackled topics ranging from student support systems to performance reporting.

Before joining BVCTC, Cody was the Director of the Office of Veterans’ Education and Training at the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission. In this role, he oversaw state and federal compliance regulations, advocating for veterans' education and training programs. His leadership within the National Association of State Approving Agencies (NASAA) also demonstrated his ability to shape national educational standards.
