Professional development is learning to earn or maintain professional credentials such as attending conferences, preparing for national exams, and informal learning opportunities situated in practice. It is usually intensive and collaborative, ideally incorporating an evaluative stage. Individuals may participate in professional development because of an interest in lifelong learning to maintain and improve professional competence, enhance career progression, keep abreast of new technology and practices, or comply with professional regulatory requirements.
BridgeValley Community & Corporate Education Division
The BridgeValley Community & Corporate Education Division is a leader in professional development through civic engagement and economic development to create diverse learner communities in the regions we serve. The Division consists of professionals who are highly experienced in labor market research to identify the most in-demand jobs. We then work closely with regional businesses and organizations to develop quality programs that produce results--for our students and regional employers.
The Community & Corporate Education Division supports a wide range of initiatives within BridgeValley from lending support to entrepreneurs, partnering with local artists and crafters to grow from apprentice to master skill levels, to professionals who want to earn the next level of certification in their profession. The Division identifies and seeks funding to develop these initiatives in both Montgomery and South Charleston.
