CPR: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Option 1 – Basic CPR Life Support
During the Basic CPR Life Support class, which lasts approximately 2.5 hours, students participate in basic CPR techniques and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) use. Each participant will learn CPR for adults, children, and infants. Participants will be certified in Basic BLS/CPR once they have correctly administered CPR/AED and will receive a card that lasts two years.
The Basic CPR Life Support class is open to the public; the registration fee is $5.00 per participant.
Option 2 – CPR/BLS/AED Healthcare Provider
The CPR/BLS/AED Healthcare Provider class lasts appoximately four hours. During the class, participants learn the basics of CPR Life Support (as described in Option 1) as well as how to correctly perform abdominal thrusts. Once participants pass a written test and correctly demonstrate how to administer CPR/AED, they will be certified as a CPR/AED/BLS Healthcare Provider. They will receive a certification card that lasts for two years.
The CPR/BLS/AED Healthcare Provider class is usually required for health professionals; the registration fee is $25.00 per participant.
