Finding Your Off-Campus Private Proctor

If you prefer not to come to a BridgeValley Community and Technical College campus to take your test, you must locate a professional person, in your local area that is willing to proctor a test for you. Your proctor must meet the criteria below:

  • must be a neutral professional of high academic integrity.
  • must have an official business e-mail address that has been assigned to them.
  • must be able to provide a secure testing environment with computer and reliable internet access
  • must be available to monitor the student during the entire exam

Acceptable proctors include: Professional testing centers; librarians at a school or public library; college administrators, faculty, or advisors; human resource officers of a corporation

Unacceptable proctors include: Relatives, including those by marriage; friends; peers; other students; co-workers.

Once you have identified a proctor, your instructor must approve your selection.  Follow the steps below.

Proctor Approval Process

Once you have identified a proctor:

  1. Complete the student and instructor information sections of the Off-Campus Proctor Approval Form.docx .  Make sure you read and understand the Directions for Proctors on the second page of the form.
  2. Have your proctor read the form, complete the Proctor Information section, sign the form, and return it to your instructor.
  3. If your instructor approves your choice of proctor, he/she will notify you and send the proctor instructions for administering the exam.
  4. It is your responsibility to schedule the exam time with your proctor; and, if neccesary, pay any fees.
  5. If your proctor is not approved, your instructor will notify you and you must choose another one.
