Student Retention

Welcome to the BridgeValley Student Retention Center. The center provides academic services for students.  These services include the academic advising for first-year freshmen, coordination of academic programs and retention programming.  All new students will meet with an advisor before registering for classes.

Student Retention

The Student Retention Centers are located in 021 B2000 on the South Charleston campus and 402 Davis Hall on the Montgomery campus. For information about advising, please call 304-734-6618.  Placement scores are needed prior to the advising appointment. If you have not taken a placement exam (ACT, ACCUPLACER, SAT), please schedule testing prior to meeting with the Freshman Advisor. To schedule an ACCUPLACER please register at http://www.bridgevalley.edu/accuplacer-testing.  During the advising appointment, the student will be scheduled for classes.

Early Alert

BridgeValley is committed to the success of its students by providing an environment conducive to teaching and learning.  To ensure that every student takes full advantage of the educational opportunities, the College has implemented an Early Alert retention program, coordinated by the Student Retention Center. Through the Early Alert system, the students are identified through referrals from the faculty and staff to provide customized services for those students early in the semester.  The Student Services support personnel will contact student(s) to discuss issues that may require attention and resources to support them.

Academic Success Workshop

Our Retention Specialist will hold a series of workshops for students on Academic Probation.  These workshops give students the resources they need to achieve academic success in the future.
