
Introducing the Workforce INitiative – the WIN Academy – at BridgeValley Community and Technical College.
A charter school that provides an accelerated, dynamic degree program for high school
juniors and seniors who are passionate and focused on education that will help them
start a career.
Students learn in state-of-the-art facilities including the Toyota Hall Advanced Technology
Center or the Booker T. Washington Nursing Wing, both on BridgeValley's South Charleston
campus.
About the WIN Academy Programs
BVCTC accepts juniors and seniors in high school into this dynamic, accelerated degree
program. It’s designed to empower students to complete their high school degree requirements
and academic major program classes simultaneously. After high school graduation, these
students need just one more year to complete their associate degree. Graduates from
the WIN Academy have either chosen to transfer their college courses to toher institutions
of higher education or have decided to complete their associate degree at BridgeValley.

Students
Students accelerate their career and enter an in-demand field with a high-paying job
just one year after high school graduation – or transfer to a four-year program for
a bachelors degree.
Parents
Parents gain peace of mind that their child will be prepared to join the workforce
early an in-demand job – and save one full year of college costs!
West Virginia
West Virginia will see an influx of young highly skilled employees, which will help
address workforce shortages statewide.
Academics & Curriculum
High school juniors will take college courses that will prepare them to enter the
nursing or manufacturing programs as high school seniors.
During their senior year in high school, WIN Academy students will earn high school
credits and community college credits while taking the first year of college program
curriculum for through BridgeValley. The WIN Academy will offer accommodations and
appropriate services to all types of learners.
Performance Standards
Students will complete assessments for each class they take using evaluation methods
such as essays, tests, lab reports, clinical assessments, presentations, etc. At entory
in the WIN Academy studetns are given a college placement exam, the Accuplacer. This
allows us to more effectively customize schedules to give students the content and
support they need to be successful in their chosen program of study.
Student Enrollment
To recruit WIN Academy students, BVCTC will deploy a multi-tiered effort to reach
potential students, parents and community members with information about the unique
opportunities of the WIN Academy.

Parent Resources
The WIN Academy at BVCTC partners with the Cook Center for Human Connection and their Mental Health and Wellness Resource Center: ParentGuidance.org. This is a mental health library for families that provides a trusted place to go
for qualified answers to parenting challenges and provides supportive guidance for
you and your children.

Key Dates – WIN Academy Application & Enrollment Timeline
- Students must commit to the program by April 15th.
- Optional summer WIN Academy classes started May.
- Regular WIN Academy classes start August.
