BridgeValley Community & Technical College to Host Third Annual 2023 Grad Bash Celebration

South Charleston, WV - BridgeValley Community & Technical College invites the media to attend the Grad Bash Celebration for the Class of 2023. The event will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at the South Charleston Campus.

The Grad Bash Celebration will feature a cookout, giveaways, and cash prizes for attendees. There will also be inflatables and carnival games suitable for all ages, making it an enjoyable event for the whole family. Students may also participate in a cap decorating contest that they will wear at the following commencement ceremony. See contest guidelines below.

 

The event presents an excellent opportunity to capture the excitement and joy of the graduating students and their families. Members of the media are encouraged to attend and cover this milestone event.

BridgeValley Community & Technical College to Host 2023 Commencement Ceremony


 

Event: BridgeValley Community and Technical College 2023 Commencement Ceremony

Date: Saturday, May 20, 2023

Time: 11AM 

 Location: 200 Civic Center Dr, Charleston, WV 25301 

 

South Charleston, WV - BridgeValley Community & Technical College will host its 2023 Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Charleston Coliseum, beginning at 11am. The event will feature Senator Shelly Moore-Capito as the Commencement Speaker and Janice Williams as the Student Graduate Speaker. Williams, a nursing student, resides in Cross Lanes with her four children.

 

 "Janice has shown remarkable dedication and perseverance throughout her academic journey, said BridgeValley President Casey Sacks. "We are proud to have her as our student speaker and look forward to hearing her inspiring message."

 

More than 300 students will graduate from BridgeValley this year from programs including nursing, advanced manufacturing technology, internet technology and more.

 

"It is a momentous occasion that marks the culmination of their academic journey and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives," Sacks said. "We are immensely proud of our students and their accomplishments, and we cannot wait to see what they will achieve in the future."

 

Grad Cap Decorating Contest Guidelines

 

Overview: We want to celebrate the creativity of our graduates! Decorate your graduation cap for a chance to win prizes. First place ($200), Second Place ($100), Third Place ($50), and President’s Choice will be awarded a BVCTC Diploma Frame.

 

Eligibility: Must be a candidate or graduate for summer 2022, fall 2022, spring 2023.

 

To Enter / Selection: Must check your decorated cap in at the Cap Station during the Grad Bash Celebration no later than 1:15pm.  Winners will be announced around 1:45 during the event.   

             

Inspiration – Find a concept that speaks to you.

  • What image or phrase describes or inspires you?
  • Recognize the career field you’re about to enter.
  • Honor that special someone who helped you throughout this journey.
  • Celebrate your Pathfinder pride for BridgeValley.

 

Materials:  Limited materials will be available at the Cap Decorating Station and will be available on a first come first serve basis.  You may also bring your cap already decorated.

 

Décor Dos and Don’ts – Ready, set, decorate your graduation cap!

  • Thank you for being thoughtful by avoiding:

o Profanity o Vulgar, lewd, discriminatory, or hateful symbols, words, images o References violence or illegal activity

Remember – Please be mindful to follow all directions when decorating your cap or it will not be considered in the contest and it could be subject to removal during the commencement ceremony.
