BridgeValley and Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority Announce Partnership to Provide Free Bus Passes to Students
BridgeValley Community and Technical College (BVCTC) is excited to announce a groundbreaking partnership with the Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority (KVRTA) aimed at enhancing accessibility for students. This collaboration will introduce a pilot program, set to commence with the fall 2023 semester, offering free bus passes to BridgeValley students for approximately six months.
In a concerted effort to foster a more connected and student-centric community, this initiative underscores the commitment of both BVCTC and KVRTA to support the educational aspirations of students in the region. The pilot program represents a significant step towards achieving a more sustainable, inclusive, and accessible transportation system for the students of BridgeValley.
Key Program Highlights:
- Initial Deployment: The program will kick off with an allocation of 200 bus passes, providing students with an affordable and convenient transportation solution.
- Unlimited Rides for Five Consecutive Days: Each bus pass will grant students unlimited rides for five consecutive days. Students can renew their passes after this duration, ensuring continuous access to reliable transportation.
- Free Pilot Program: BridgeValley will provide the bus passes free of charge for the duration of the pilot program, which is expected to run through February.
How it Works:
- To participate in the program, students will be referred to the Dean of Students at BVCTC, where they can express their interest and receive further information.
- Students will sign to acknowledge their receipt of a bus pass, streamlining the process and ensuring accountability.
- Both BVCTC and KVRTA are committed to evaluating the success of the pilot program. If deemed beneficial and mutually agreeable, an official Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be established, allowing BridgeValley to continue providing discounted bus passes to its students beyond the pilot phase.
This partnership embodies a shared vision of creating a more accessible and connected educational experience for BridgeValley students, eliminating transportation barriers that can hinder their pursuit of academic success.
