The Respiratory Therapy program is designed to prepare students for a career as a respiratory care professional. The program is nationally accredited by The Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). As Registered Respiratory Therapists, graduates may expect to find employment in home health care, acute and sub-acute settings, diagnostic laboratories, research, case management, sales, and asthma education.
The Respiratory Therapy program is delivered on-site at Carver Career & Technical Center in Malden, WV. Completion of this program leads to an Associate of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy and eligibility for the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) examination.
Respiratory therapy is a selective admission, limited enrollment program which admits one class per year. Successful candidates are selected by an admissions committee. Students wishing to enter this program must complete an application packet available in the Admissions Office by February 28 of each year. The admissions committee will consider applications during two selection periods. The application deadline for priority selections is February 28 of each year. If seats are still available in the program following priority application reviews, secondary applications will be considered. The application deadline to be considered for the secondary selection period will be April 30 of each year.
Students accepted into the Respiratory Therapy collaborative program pay tuition directly to the Carver Career and Technical Center, not to BridgeValley. Admitted students will need to contact the financial aid counselor at Carver to discuss payments options. Financial aid is limited to Pell and Higher Education Adult Part-time Student (HEAPS) grants for students enrolled in the Carver cooperative programs. At this time, the Carver programs do not accept the Promise Scholarship or other State scholarships. Direct all scholarship applicability questions to the financial aid counselor at Carver Career and Technical Center.
