SOUTH CHARLESTON, W. Va. – BridgeValley Community and Technical College proudly announces a remarkable 9.7% increase in student headcount and a 10.97% rise in full-time enrollment (FTE) for the Fall 2024 semester. These impressive gains not only surpass the statewide average growth of 7.8% among West Virginia’s community and technical colleges but also underscore BridgeValley’s unwavering commitment to accessible education, workforce development, and student success.

“We are thrilled to see such robust growth across so many programs of study,” said Dr. Casey K. Sacks, President of BridgeValley. “These results demonstrate our dedication to innovative programming, student support, and alignment with workforce needs. By prioritizing accessible education and high-quality training, we are equipping our students to thrive and strengthening our regional economy.”

Key Factors Driving Enrollment Growth

BridgeValley attributes this enrollment success to several strategic initiatives:

  • Student-Centered Support Systems: More than $5 million in federal grants secured over the past two years have expanded wraparound services, including individualized advising, financial assistance, and career readiness programs.
  • Workforce-Focused Curriculum: Programs are continuously refined through labor market analysis and partnerships with local employers to ensure alignment with in-demand skills.
  • Tuition-Free Opportunities: The West Virginia Invests Grant remains instrumental in enabling qualifying students to attend tuition-free, removing financial barriers to education.

This growth reflects BridgeValley’s success in re-engaging former students, strengthening transfer pathways, and expanding opportunities for high school students through dual enrollment programs. These efforts underscore the college’s commitment to providing accessible, high-quality education tailored to the needs of students and the region.

Looking Ahead

BridgeValley remains committed to providing accessible, high-quality education while addressing the region’s workforce needs. The college is committed to building on this momentum to drive further innovation and success.
