Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the questions students and parents typically have concerning admission to BridgeValley Community and Technical College.
A transcript is considered official when it is being sent to BridgeValley directly by the issuing school. This can be sent electronically via email or through an electronic service, or it can be sent via physical mail, or delivered to admissions in a sealed envelope.
A final transcript is a transcript that shows a student is no longer registered or enrolled for courses at an institution. For a college transcript to be considered final, it would need to show that a student is not registered for any upcoming courses and does not have any in progress courses. For a high school transcript or GED, a diploma granted date/graduation date must be displayed on the transcript.
We utilize test scores for placement purposes in Math and English, but we do not use them for admissions purposes. If you have not taken the ACT or SAT, or your test scores are older than 5 years, you are more than welcome to take the Accuplacer on our campus. You can learn more about it HERE.
BridgeValley Community and Technical College has an open admission policy, so we do not have a minimum GPA requirement to attend BridgeValley. However, some programs at BridgeValley do have separate admissions criteria. For more information on these programs CLICK HERE.
An Admissions Counselor will serve as a guide to you through the admissions and enrollment process but is unable to register you for classes. Your Academic Advisor will assist you and guide you through registration and setting up your course schedule. For more information on registering and meeting with your advisor CLICK HERE.
When a student is first admitted to BridgeValley they are provisionally admitted. Each school handles transcript requests differently, but typically they are handled by the school's Registrar. If you visit the school's website and navigate to the Registrar's page there should be instructions on how to request a transcript. Please make sure that BridgeValley is listed as a recipient so that it will count as official.
The Admissions Office attempts to process transcripts as quickly as possible, but we do request a minimum of five business days to be reflected on your account.
While the Admissions Office collects and processes transcripts, the Registrar's Office is responsible for evaluating transfer credits and applying them to your account. Please know that the Registrar's Office will not be able to evaluate a transcript for transfer credits until a Final Official copy of your transcript has been received. However, if you are curious about credits that have transferred to BridgeValley before CLICK HERE.
