About the President

Dr. Christopher C. Treadway became president of BridgeValley Community and Technical College on July 1, 2026, bringing more than a decade of statewide leadership in higher education, workforce development, and public policy to the role.
A lifelong resident of the Kanawha Valley and a product of Kanawha County Schools, Dr. Treadway is a graduate of DuPont High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Charleston before completing graduate studies at Marshall University. His deep personal roots in the region—and his commitment to the students and communities BridgeValley serves—are at the heart of his approach to leadership.
Before joining BridgeValley, Dr. Treadway served as Vice Chancellor for Community and Technical College Education with the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education, where he provided leadership and oversight for the state's nine community and technical colleges. In that role, he directed major statewide workforce development grant programs, oversaw capital project planning, led initiatives to integrate emerging technologies like artificial intelligence into instruction, and guided institutions through complex governance and accreditation challenges.
Earlier in his tenure, he served as Senior Director of the Division of Policy and Planning, where he was the chief architect of West Virginia's higher education funding formula and helped launch the West Virginia Invests Grant program, the state's free community college initiative. Throughout his career, his work has consistently focused on removing barriers to access and improving student success.
Dr. Treadway's career in education began with nearly fourteen years at the West Virginia STARBASE Academy, where he spent most of his tenure as director of a federally funded STEM outreach program serving more than 1,000 students annually. He has also taught as adjunct faculty at the University of Charleston and continues to serve as a consultant to the West Virginia Department of Education, coordinating the state's Social Studies Fair and Science and Engineering Fair.
He and his wife, Teresa, are proud to call the Kanawha Valley home. Outside of work, they love to travel and share a passion for the theater and cooking. Dr. Treadway holds a private pilot certificate, and he and Teresa both recently became certified SCUBA divers. Dr. Treadway is honored to lead BridgeValley and remains deeply committed to advancing its mission of delivering accessible, high-quality education that empowers students to succeed in meaningful careers and further education.
