SOUTH CHARLESTON, W. Va. – BridgeValley Community & Technical College (BVCTC) is excited to announce Jennifer Hurt as the new Dean of High School Programs. Jennifer will oversee the WIN Academy and dual enrollment programs, guiding high school students through college-preparatory pathways that emphasize academic rigor and student success.
With over 30 years of experience in education and curriculum development, Jennifer has a strong track record of fostering student achievement. She holds a permanent West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate for PK-AD French and has taught in Ohio, Colorado, and Texas. Her academic background includes an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Marshall University, a Master’s in French from The Ohio State University, and a Bachelor’s in French and Government from the University of Notre Dame.
Prior to this role, Jennifer served as BVCTC’s Director of Nursing Retention, where she developed the innovative “Nourishment for Nursing” program, which received the WVASPA Innovative Program Award in 2023. A certified Mindfulness Teacher, she continues to advocate for student well-being and success. Jennifer also serves as an adjunct professor at BVCTC and a Graduate Associate Faculty member at Marshall University.
Her professional accomplishments include nominations for the Yeoman Fisher Award for Teaching Excellence, the Arch Coal Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching Award, and The Ohio State University’s Graduate Associate Teaching Award.
