SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — BridgeValley Community and Technical College will welcome the next generation of innovators, creators, and problem-solvers this summer as it hosts its 2026 STEAM Academy, a week-long immersive experience designed for rising fifth through eighth grade students. Registration is now open for the academy, which will be held July 20–24 on BridgeValley's South Charleston campus.
Made possible through the generous support of the Kanawha Valley Mining Institute and Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia, STEAM Academy introduces students to the exciting world of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) through engaging, hands-on learning experiences that encourage creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Throughout the week, students will participate in interactive experiments, creative design projects, engineering challenges, technology demonstrations, and team-based activities that bring STEAM concepts to life in fun and meaningful ways. The academy is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and help students discover how the skills they develop today can lead to exciting educational and career opportunities in the future.
Hosted in both Building 2000 and the Advanced Technology Center, the academy gives students the opportunity to experience a college campus while exploring the innovative technologies, equipment, and learning environments that prepare tomorrow's workforce.
"STEAM Academy gives students the opportunity to discover new interests, build confidence through hands-on learning, and experience the exciting possibilities that education in science and technology can offer," said Dr. Chris Treadway, President of BridgeValley Community & Technical College. "We're proud to provide young learners with experiences that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and a passion for lifelong learning."
The academy will be held daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the registration fee is $150 per student.
