BridgeValley Community & Technical College is a proud participant in the STAND program (Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Nontraditional Degree Program), which helps skilled trades professionals turn their apprenticeship into a college degree — tuition free.
What Is STAND?
The STAND Program helps skilled trades professionals turn their apprenticeship into a college degree. If you're in a registered skilled trade apprenticeship — or have completed one — your training may already count as college credit toward an Associate of Applied Science degree at BridgeValley.
How It Works: A Clear Path Forward
- Your skilled trade apprenticeship counts as college credit.
- Apply to STAND online at cfwv.com/financial-aid/stand.
- Enroll at BridgeValley Community & Technical College.
- Complete your general education courses.
- Earn your associate degree.
In many cases:
- Just 5 courses to complete your degree
- Can be completed in about one year or less
- Flexible scheduling — evening, weekend, and online options
- Continue working while you learn

Who Qualifies?
You may be eligible if you:
- Are a West Virginia resident
- Are currently enrolled in, or have completed, a registered skilled trade apprenticeship
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Enroll at BridgeValley Community & Technical College
