Staff I always wanted a college degree but didn't understand the challenges I faced as a
first-generation college student. I was navigating college life on my own until I
learned how to ask for help and utilize the resources that were in place. There are
days that I still doubt my abilities and feel like an imposter, but I am finally starting
to see my hard work pay off. I am proud of myself for overcoming the barriers associated
with being a first-gen student. Own your identity as a first-gen student, ask for help, advocate for yourself, and
know that you are not alone. Recognize your barriers to success and be proud of yourself
for overcoming them!Paula Beasley
