South Charleston, WV - BridgeValley Community & Technical College will host its 25th Annual Capital City Pumpkin drop competition on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the Go Mart Ball Park, beginning at 8:00 AM.
This milestone event will bring together students from local schools to participate in a creative and educational challenge, where teams design contraptions to protect pumpkins as they are dropped from great heights. The goal is to keep their pumpkins intact, promoting innovation, teamwork, and hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.
The competition kicks off with registration at 8:00 AM, followed by opening ceremonies at 8:30 AM, and the official start of the Pumpkin Drop at 9:00 AM. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony at approximately 1:00 PM, recognizing the top-performing teams for their ingenuity and problem-solving skills.
"This event is a wonderful way to inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists by applying classroom knowledge to a fun, real-world scenario," said BridgeValley President Casey Sacks.
